People typically spend more than nine hours a day sitting at their desks at work, and when we get up from the desk, our low backs or even our knees begin to hurt.

How ?

  • Prolonged sitting puts pressure on our gluteal muscles, and also keeps them in a lengthened position. This allows the hip flexors to get tight, and the glutes to be inhibited- less likely to fire properly and work efficiently.
  • Gluteus become weak and underworking. When we don’t use the muscles often, muscles become shortned over time and lose their range of motion and proper function.

Biomechanics

Gluteus are main stabilizers in the pelvis and support the lower back. When the gluteus are weak, you overcompensate by using the muscles in your low back to stabilize the body. This form stress and extra pressure to low back thus increasing the load on spine. The extra stress over the low back create pin over low back.

How to correct ?

Activating and strengthen the inhibited Gluteus muscle. Check the tightness of hip flexors and release the tight structures thus the extra stress over spine can be prevented. Pelvis become more stable. Engage your gluteus in the movements to increase your performance and prevent injuries.
